Fishing is very popular in Merthyr with many of our parks offering this facility. Be sure to get in touch with one of the local angling associations for more information.
We are lucky to have Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales right on our door step. We would highly recommend venturing up to take in the incredible views of the surrounding area.
As well as the Taff Trail, Merthyr is also home to Bike Park Wales. It is the UK’s first full scale mountain bike park in the heart of the South Wales valleys, built by riders for riders.
Merthyr is home to a wide range of retailers for all of your shopping needs. From the town centre or over to Cyfatha Retail Park, you’ll be sure to find what you’re looking for.
There are many walks near us which are perfect for all ages and abilities. From a quiet stroll by Pontsticill Reservoir to a strenuous hike up one of the many peaks, all offering incredible views.
From Brecon Mountain Railway to the Penderyn Malt Whisky Distillery, there are many other activities on offer in and around Merthyr Tydfil to suit all tastes.
